MUGHAL PAINTING

In Mugal paintings background was usually hilly landscapes. Flowers and animals were also vastly depicted and in these the Indian artists applied their own skills to develop on the Persian ideas. Love, romance, scenes from the court life, wild life and hunting scenes, and illustrations of battle fronts, some paintings also depicted lovers in intimate positions. portraits and durban scenes became the common themes. Elephant fights and men controlling mast elephants with fireworks and spears are also shown in a number of paintings. The beauty of nature, in the form of plants, animals and birds, became an important subject of the Mughal paintings. One of the Mughal paintings illustrate a prince and his companions smoking a `huqqa`, in the presence of beautiful ladies in the lovely environs of a walled fort gardens.
